Every idea starts
with a problem.
Ours started at a kitchen table. Rob — a parent of two — went back to relearn statistics and discovered how good AI had become at patient, step-by-step teaching: it explained, it never judged, it tried another way when the first way didn't land.
Then came the uncomfortable part. That kind of tutoring is exactly what wealthier families have always bought — and what most families can't. The spending gap on kids' learning outside school has nearly tripled since the 1970s.
So he built the tutor his own two kids now use every school night — snap tonight's homework, practice until it's mastered — and made a decision about the price: there isn't one.
Why “LeftStart”?
Because no learner should be left behind at the start. A head start shouldn't be something you buy — it should be where everyone begins.
How it's run
LeftStart is run as a nonprofit and funded by donations. There is no subscription, no ads, and no selling of data — kids are not a product. Every dollar donated goes to keeping the tutor free for the next family.
